As an MRI Technologist, I’ve had a lot of hands-on experience with whole-body imaging. This experience includes working for two of the whole body MRI providers listed below.
I’ve scanned hundreds of patients and gained a detailed knowledge of what makes (and doesn’t make) a great scanning experience.
So if you want the true insider scoop, keep on.
Traditional diagnostic MRIs, while effective, often focus on isolated regions, potentially missing early signs of systemic conditions or anomalies in neighbouring body parts.
Research has shown that whole body MRI is inherently superior for diagnosis of systemic conditions, such as multiple myeloma and metastatic cancers.
Whole-body MRI scans offer a cohesive solution. A holistic view of our internal anatomy can enable timely detection and improved patient outcomes and even provide detection of cancer in its early stages.
But which scans lead the industry, and why?
In this post, I rank the top companies who offer the Whole Body MRI experience.
Tech Insider Note:
I've actually worked at two of the three companies on this list — Prenuvo and Elysian — so I've seen the scanning side from the inside, not just as a reviewer.
One thing that doesn't come through on any of these companies' marketing pages: Elysian requires a physician's requisition before you can book a whole-body scan, while Prenuvo and Ezra are typically self-referral.

What Are the Top Whole Body MRI Scans?
Researching what a whole-body MRI might entail can be a task in and of itself. Then throw in the different options of companies offering the service and it can get a tad overwhelming.
The best full-body scans offer high-quality images, a reasonable price tag, and an overall great experience before, during, and after the scan.
With that in mind, here are my top picks for whole-body MRI scans this year.
1. Prenuvo

Overview
Prenuvo specializes in whole-body MRI. With many sites across North America, they are quickly becoming a household name for full-body preventative screening and have many glowing reviews.
They offer Torso-only scans, Head and Torso, and Whole Body.
Prenuvo was also featured by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton.
Prenuvo has locations in all over the USA, Vancouver Canada, and even some abroad in Europe and Australia. Click here for a comprehensive list.

Key Benefits
- Uses Multiparametric Imaging Techniques This technique involves combining functional and anatomical imaging. What does this do? This allows for more diagnostic detail than a routine MRI, which typically uses anatomical imaging alone.
- Proprietary Prenuvo Scan Protocols Prenuvo protocols have undergone over 10 years of testing and refining. The results are higher quality images in a faster time.

Cons
Pricing
Prenuvo charges more for their scans depending on location. It is most expensive in New York (4999.00 USD). In Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Boca Raton, Bethesda, Scottsdale, Houston, San Diego, Denver, Seattle, Minneapolis, and Dallas, Miami, Pasadena, Irvine, Las Vegas and $3,999 at clinics where the Advanced Heart Health Assessment is not yet available.
Service Availability
Blood panels available only at eligible Prenuvo clinic locations in the United States. That means they are not yet available abroad, including Canada.
Also, the advanced heart health scan is only available in certain locations.
My Personal Opinion
Prenuvo offers a tried and true scanning protocol that has been tested and refined over 10 years.
They also invest heavily into AI and further research into preventative MRI. Prenuvo’s innovative patient dashboard also makes navigating your results simple, informative, and stress-free.
Other Considerations:
- Prenuvo MRI Techs specialize in whole body MRI and are highly trained
- Scanning facilities are state of the art with top-of-the-line equipment
- Prenuvo clinics offer a spa-like experience, complete with Netflix, snacks, coffee, and tea
- Prenuvo is conducting its research and is one of the first to find scientific connections
Overall, Prenuvo comes out as the Top Whole-Body MRI Scan of 2026.
2. Ezra

Overview
Ezra’s approach combines state-of-the-art MRI technology with AI-powered analysis, allowing for comprehensive body scans that can identify potential concerns in multiple organs. In addition to offering scans, the company provides an easy-to-use platform where members can book their appointments, access their reports, and speak with physicians.
Ezra has locations in:
- New York
- Miami
- Las Vegas
- San Francisco
- Los Angeles
Key Benefits
- In addition to the MRI, they also offer a low-dose CT of the chest. However, if you are not particularly concerned about lung disease, this may not be as beneficial.
- They have patient viewing software that makes it easy for the patient to navigate through their images.
- They offer a 45-minute follow-up consultation with each package. However, it is unclear as to who this is with. Is it with a radiologist? A nurse practitioner? These are also only available in select states due to telehealth guidelines.

Pricing
Ezra has been acquired by Function Health and has since undergone some changes with their pricing. This is good news as the prices have gone down quite a bit.
Ezra scans are now bundled through a Function Health membership ($365/year for labs), with the base full-body scan at $899 (members) / $999 (standalone)
Like Prenuvo, Ezra has a membership and standalone scan options. The prices for the scan itself are cheaper if you have the membership.

My Take
Ezra offers a similar experience to what Prenuvo offers, including having AI engineers involved in their image analysis process.
I placed Ezra in spot 2, as Prenuvo takes the cake when it comes to furthering the world of preventative Whole-Body MRI screening through conducting their own studies with a dedicated in-house research team.
Ezra has since started to expand ever since they were acquired by Function Health.
I do still rank Prenuvo as number one due to their rapid expansion across continents and their research and development efforts.
Ezra is hot on their heels and is a close second, in my personal opinion.
3. Elysian

Overview
Elysian is a company offering many different services (from pharmacy to physiotherapy) to cover all of your health needs. It’s a one stop shop.
Like Prenuvo, they offer Torso, Head and Torso, and Whole-body MRI with facilities in British Columbia, Canada.
Key Benefits
- Spa-like scanning facility
- State-of-the-art equipment
- One-stop shop for other health services, should you require them
- Less wait time for appointments and reports
- 4.9/5 google rating
Elysian Full-Body MRI stands out for two reasons.
First, they offer two more images of the spine than Prenuvo does. If you are worried about your spine, Elysian may be the place to go.
Second, the final report generated by the radiologist follows a more traditional format. This format is the same as what doctors read.
Prenuvo’s reporting system is more geared towards the patients, and there has been some negative feedback from doctors wanting a more professional report format than what Prenuvo offers.
Pricing
- Torso– 1195.00 CAD
- Head and Torso– 2195.00 CAD
- Whole Body– 2995.00 CAD
There are also comprehensive membership plans available. Plans vary in price and some include annual whole body MRI screening.
My Take
Elysian is comparitively new to the Whole Body arena and only offer services in Canada. Although the scans take a bit longer, they certainly make up for it in image quality, quantity, and speed of reporting.
A big draw to whole body MRI is that for Prenuvo and Ezra, you can book directly with them without a referral. So the fact that Elysian requires you to get a requisition from your doctor first may be a drawback for some.
Tech Note:
Elysian requires a doctors referral...it's not all bad.
In my opinion, a referral often means the report comes back in a more traditional clinical format that your doctor is used to seeing.
This as compared to a more consumer-friendly, plain-language reports some providers use.
Which one really depends on whether you're bringing results to a physician who wants a familiar format, or whether you want something you can interpret yourself first.
Overall, I see Elysian is an up-and-coming force in the whole-body MRI arena.
What Is Whole Body MRI?
Whole body MRI, or Magnetic Resonance Imaging, is an advanced, non-invasive imaging technique that captures detailed images of the inside of the human body, from head to toe. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, MRI uses powerful magnets, radio waves, and a computer to produce these images, eliminating the exposure to ionizing radiation.
The comprehensive nature of a whole body MRI allows for a holistic view of the body’s internal structures.
This is particularly beneficial for detecting a range of conditions or abnormalities that may be missed in more localized scans.
In the context of early disease detection, whole body MRI scans can be instrumental in identifying potential concerns, such as tumors or inflammatory processes, before they progress to more advanced stages or manifest overt symptoms.
These scans also often offer a lot of post-processing and AI analysis of the scan images which can provide further detail.
How Can Whole Body MRI Benefit You?
Traditionally, MRI is used as a diagnostic tool to assess problems that have already advanced to clinical symptoms.
In a way, traditional diagnostic MRI scans can be thought of as reactionary, as elective Whole Body MRI can be considered proactive and preventative.
Full Body MRI can also provide a baseline in healthy individuals, thus acting a reference point of baseline health should problems arise as you age.
How I Ranked the Top Full Body MRI Facilities
I am an MRI Technologist who has had years of hands-on experience with regular diagnostic scans and whole body protocols. I have also worked for a major company that offers whole body MRI. Therefore, I knew exactly what to look out for when ranking the above companies.
I ranked the Top Whole Body MRIs Based on the Following Factors:
- Value: MRIs can be expensive. I wanted to make sure that each dollar counts.

FAQ
What Does a Whole Body MRI Show?
MRIs are great for looking at soft tissue. This includes the solid organs, bones, and muscles. Whole Body MRI is typically limited in evaluating the lungs and the heart.
Does a Whole Body MRI Detect Colon Cancer?
These scans can indeed pick up abnormalities in the colon. However, they are not recommended to replace dedicated and routine evaluations that are recommended by your doctor.
Can a Full Body MRI Detect Nerve Damage?
It depends on what is causing the nerve damage or neuropathy symptoms. If the cause is structural (for instance, a tumor) MRI can see it. MRIs are often used to monitor acoustic neuromas.
How Long Does a Whole Body MRI Take?
Whole Body scans (not including Torso-only, or head and Torso-only) typically take anywhere from 22 mins- 1.5 hours. Scan length can vary depending on provider and service chosen. The more comprehensive scans will logically take longer than the basic scans.
How Loud is the MRI?
The noise from the machine has been compared to what you would experience in a construction site. The noises can range anywhere from 65-140 decibels. Your technologist will give you a headset that will reduce the noise down to a safe level.
How Do You Prepare for a Whole Body MRI?
Typically, it is best not to eat 4 hours leading up to the scan. Small sips of liquid (that do not contain fats, so no milk or cream) may be taken as needed.
You will also be required to fill out a detailed medical history. This is imperative and is a legal requirement before a patient undergoes an MRI.
If you have concerns of claustrophobia, it is also a good idea to inquire with your doctor, or with the MRI clinic about taking an anti-anxiety medication. Be sure to bring a responsible driver with you to your appointment.
What Types of Diseases and Conditions Can a Full Body MRI Detect?
One of these scans can detect for over 500 conditions.
Will I Be Given a Dye Injection For My Whole Body MRI?
No. Dye injections are considered more invasive and are reserved for more dedicated diagnostic scans. Although the dye is considered safe, it is best practice to only use these injections when clinically warranted by a doctor.
What if They Find Something On My Scan?
If there is an urgent finding, most sites will prioritize your scan and ensure that your doctor is made aware. Your doctor will then take over your next steps of care. If there is an emergency, the radiologist will ensure that it is communicated immediately with your doctor and that you receive help right away.
Can Children Receive a Whole Body MRI?
No. Medical procedures for minors are usually only done when clinically necessary. There may be rare cases when the child’s physician may consider a whole body scan. In this case, it is up to the MRI clinic radiologists along with the patient’s physician to decide on the best course of care.
I Have Metal in My Body, Can I Still Have a Full Body MRI
As with any MRI, your technologist is trained to decided whether your specific implants are safe for the procedure.
Most orthopedic implants (such as artificial hips, screws, or pins in the bone) and fixed dental apparatuses (fillings and bonded wires) are considered safe. However, these may cause artifacting (warping of the picture) and scan quality may go down. Thus, it is best to bring this up to clinic staff.
I Have a Pacemaker, Can I Still Have a Scan?
Most sites will not scan persons with pacemakers. Although some pacemakers are considered MRI-conditional (safe to go in but require specific scan parameters) MRI scans are usually only performed when absolutely clinically warranted.
I am Pregnant or Breastfeeding, Can I have A Whole Body MRI?
If you are pregnant you are not permitted to have a scan. Although there has been no evidence of harm caused by an MRI on pregnancy, they are only done in emergency situations when clinically warranted by your doctor.
If you are breastfeeding you are permitted to have a scan. Do mention it to your technologist as breast changes while actively breastfeeding can show up on images.
